What is Awana?
Awana is an international children’s ministry which aims to “reach kids, equip leaders, and change the world”. Awana uses the gospel to show children the love of Jesus Christ and to build disciples.
Our Clubs
VCEFC offers Awana during the school year (September to June) for children in Preschool (age 3) to Grade 6. Each club meets weekly on Saturday afternoons. Awana is open for children of both members and non-members of our church. We have 3 clubs for different age groups:
- Cubbies (Preschoolers)*
- Sparks (Kindergarten to Grade 2)
- Truth & Training (Grade 3 to Grade 6)
*Please note that children must reach the age of 3 by September to join Cubbies Club.
In person Awana meetings will resume January 2022. If your child is currently registered for the online program, you will receive an email from our ministry director with details about in person meetings shortly. Please keep in mind that there may be changes depending on the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and any provincial health orders. Your child’s safety is one of our top priorities at Awana.
Registration
As we are in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, we will continue meeting online. As such, all clubs will be meeting online on Saturdays (except on public holiday weekends) starting in September 2021.
Live online meeting platforms will either be on Cisco Webex or Google Meets. We highly encourage parents to help setup the live online meeting programs for their children and be able to participate along during the program.

Our Program
Each Awana meeting includes several activities. Club specific activities have been modified to accommodate meeting via online platforms. Activities may include:
- Singing
- Story/Large Group Time
- Handbook/Small Group Time
- Games
During singing time, children are taught the meaning and purpose of worship through a variety of songs. Story/large group time provides an opportunity for clubbers to discover stories in the Bible and key ideas for Christian living. Specially designed Awana handbooks are used during small group time to help children grow in their faith and knowledge of God and the Bible. Scripture memorization is an important part of Awana club as it encourages clubbers to learn and apply God’s word in their daily lives. Games time allows children to build relationships with each other and their leaders through fun activities.
Our Team
We have over 20 trained leaders and secretaries on our team, all of whom are very dedicated to serving the children of Awana each week and fostering fellowship with each other. Our leaders are encouraged by the continual growth and curiosity of the clubbers as they walk with them in their faith journey. Please feel free to contact your child’s leader or the ministry director if you have any questions or concerns.

Club meetings will begin at 4:15PM and end at 5:30PM on most Saturdays.
