2004 Agape Annual Report
Christina Lai
The Agape Fellowship is an adult career fellowship. Our theme for 2004 is "Learn God's Word and put God's Truth in Action", i.e. on top of learning God's Word, we should act out God's truth by serving God and serving others. Hence, our committee planned different programs and activities to achieve this theme.
In order to enhance the spiritual growth of our fellow members, we have our monthly bible study, and we also used the book "Experiencing God - Knowing and Doing the Will of God" to guide the sharing our cell groups in the earlier half of the year. Agape also participated in the Bible Verse Memorization Campaign organized by Awana during the summer (Philipians 4:1-8). Many of our fellow members made every effort and eventually memorized all the eight verses successfully. In these few months, we've been taking turn to share our favorite bible verse in our weekly program.
With regard to caring for our fellow members, we had the "secret angel" program earlier this year. In the latter half of the year, we implemented the "prayer partner" program by splitting our fellow members into groups of two or three, hoping that deeper spiritual friendship can be built through sharing and praying. In October, we had a retreat camp in Bowen Island, where all the participants had good time with one another, as well as enjoyed their quiet time with God. A break-through also took place with our fellow brothers - they have eventually started a bi-weekly brothers' bible study group in the latter half of the year.
In connection with out-reaching, we had a co-organized a Gospel Caf? with the Koinonia and Charis fellowships on Feb 20. On Nov 5, we had another gospel meeting called "How about let's meet?" Thank God for bringing new-comers to our fellowship, and we are so grateful that the new-comer who will only stay in Vancouver for half a year eventually gave himself to Christ before he leaves Vancouver, Hallelujah! With regard to connecting with other groups from our church, we had joint fellowships with Koinonia and Charis for a few times during the year, and we also had a enjoyable joint meeting with David Fellowship on June 4.
Our fellowship did experience a lot of struggles during the year, both due to the hardship that our church has been facing, and also due to various personal situations that our fellow members have gone through. Our attendance rate had once fluctuated significantly, but when we look back, we can see that God's grace is always enough to carry us through. We believe God is faithful, and for what He had done for us in the past, He will also guide us through in the future to come.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our counsellors, committee members, and group leaders who had put so much of their time and effort in Agape, and also thank all fellow members for their participation and support. May Agape continue to grow in Christ, and become the blessings of others.
